New York is the market of this energy drink.
In the USA Cocaine is offered as the legal alternative.

Marketing: in the poster of the drink stands its controversial name.

In New York (United States) the consumers are offered a drink called Cocaine, which is advertised as the legal alternative and that triggered a controversy among lawmakers of this country. In October several Internet sites reported the apparition of the beverage on the market in New York, Los Angeles and San Diego.

The product was created by the enterprise Redux Beverages of California and Jaime Kirby. The drink is similar to Red Bull, which is consumed in the country, but holds up to three times more caffeine.

The Mexican news agency Notimex states that US politicians have put their hands in the hair and denounced the sale of this new product.
Democratic lawmakers criticize the fact that the name could lead to confusion and complain that an illegal substance, such as cocaine, is advertised among teenagers.

The legislator from Queens, James Sanders, for example, stated that there are only two possible reasons for  spreading this infamous name to market a drink: either one ignores the horrors of cocaine addiction or your God is the dollar and not even the lives of people are more sacred than money.

One of the owners of the Company that sells the new drink stated the product name was chosen specifically, knowing that would give rise to controversy, but the controversy sells. The items Cocaine are sold in a red can, a mobile phone sized.

Medical Doctor Eduardo Chávez explained that caffeine, in normal doses, causes a stimulation of glandular system that regulate the secretion of norepinephrine, which stimulates the functions especially of the heart, and acetylcholine.
The balance is ideal for humans, though when the organism is overly stimulated, the consequences are unpredictable; an energizing substance can be harmful.

The energizers contain no protein, fat and carbohydrates, which are found in fruits and other foods as a base of energy generating processes, but they contain caffeine in large quantities, possibly affecting negatively on consumers in the short and mid-term; they also increase blood pressure and may cause heart attacks; they do not contain any nutrient, but only stimulant components.

US lawmakers have called for an investigation on the safety of Cocaine.

However, in this country the energizers are dietary supplements.

They’re not foods and not subjected to the strict laws on these products.

The drink is sold in New York, San Diego and Los Angeles, California.

The product was launched on 24 October and triggered controversy.

It contains three times more caffeine than a common energizing.
